Toyota’s been busy in 2024, to put it mildly. After months of teasing and waiting, the all-new sixth generation of the 2025 Toyota 4Runner has been officially unveiled by Toyota, finally replacing the fifth-generation version that entered production in 2009. A few months earlier, in February, Toyota also unveiled the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser, returning the iconic overlander to the U.S. after a two-year hiatus.

Now that both are officially out in the open, it’s natural to wonder how the two SUVs compare and contrast.

Naturally, we won’t be able to speak to real-world driving and use case differences until we get behind the wheel of both. We’re also still awaiting some critical official details on the 2025 4Runner, including its MSRP and full vehicle dimensions.

So, we’ve done our best to compile the key specs we could find for both vehicles to help curious comparers at least get their bearings around the two SUVs.

Here are a few takeaways that also stand out early on.

What the 2024 Land Cruiser and 2025 4Runner share

They both are available with a 326-hp hybrid turbo powertrain.

They both share the exact same wheelbase of 112.2 inches.

They both have a max towing capacity of 6000 lbs.

They both feature Toyota’s Safety Sense 3.0 system standard

The 2025 Toyota 4Runner can sit up to seven with an optional third-row package.

Only the 2025 4Runner comes in a rear wheel and part-time four-wheel drive options.

The 2025 4Runner has slightly higher ground clearance (9.2 inches) than the 2024 Land Cruiser (8.7 inches)

2025 Toyota 4Runner

The new 6th generation 2025 Toyota 4Runner is here after a 15-year wait. Like the Tacoma, it’s built on Toyota’s new TNGA-F body-on-frame truck platform and should deliver ride quality improvements. Other notable features include a new hybrid powertrain option, new Platinum trim and Trailhunter trim for over landing. And yes it still keeps the classic power rear window.
