The new Pegasus 41 is set to hit roads this June
NIke
In his review of the Nike Pegasus 40, our fitness editor alum Ben Emminger shrewdly noted that “you’d expect a landmark 40th iteration to have more updates across the board.” Someone important at Nike was definitely taking notes.
Details on next-generation Nike Pegasus 41 just broke cover. By the early looks of it, new updates to our best daily trainer for beginner pick and one of Runner’s World’s best overall running shoe picks add a slew of technical chops that may help the shoe catch the eye of more advanced runners, too.
The most significant change is that Nike’s ReactX foam, initially announced in July of 2023, has finally made its way to the company’s bread-and-butter running shoe.

According to the press release, the Pegasus 41’s full-length ReactX foam midsole and forefoot can provide 13% more energy return than the previous React foam.
That change alone addresses one of the most common complaints of the previous generation, which, as Runner’s World puts it, boiled down to cushioning being responsive, “but not especially bouncy.” More importantly for the planet, Nike also notes that the new foam reduces the shoe’s carbon footprint by at least 43 percent.
Once my eyes adjust past the glaring volt color of the press images, the shoe also looks sharper and less doofy – to use a technical term – than the previous Pegasus 40.
More details will come soon, but at least you can start prepping your Nike Running Shoe rotation for the new Peg this summer.
