Jeep is making a big electrification push. That will mean new electric cars like the Recon and Wagoneer S. But it will also mean an expansion of Jeep’s 4xe hybrid lineup beyond the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee. One of those vehicles going hybrid is the Gladiator pickup, which could give it a leg up on rivals like the Toyota Tacoma and GMC Canyon.
Here’s what we know so far about the 2025 Jeep Gladiator 4xe hybrid pickup.
When is the Jeep Gladiator getting a hybrid engine?
Former Jeep head Jim Morrison confirmed that a Gladiator 4xe is in the works but not for 2024. Jeep has yet to confirm a timeline. However, according to Stellantis’s agreement with the UAW, the hybrid Gladiator should arrive sometime in 2025.
What type of hybrid engine is the Gladiator getting?
Jeep still needs to confirm which engine the hybrid Gladiator will get. But we expect the Gladiator 4xe will use the 2.0-liter inline-four plug-in-hybrid setup used by the Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe that puts out 375 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque.
The hybrid Jeep Gladiator will likely pack a more potent powertrain than the current combustion V6. Jeep
How much will the Gladiator hybrid be able to tow?
The PHEV probably won’t be the top-towing Gladiator. But it should be sufficient for midsize truck duty. The Wrangler 4xe only tows around 3,500 pounds. However, Jeep was able to bump that up to 6,000 pounds for the Grand Cherokee. And you should be able to pull an amount worthy of a midsize truck with the Gladiator 4xe.
How much electric range will the Gladiator PHEV get?
The Wrangler 4xe is rated for 22 miles of EV-only range. The Grand Cherokee 4xe is rated for 26 miles. If the Gladiator 4xe uses the same battery pack, we expect it to end up somewhere in the 20s.
How much will the Gladiator 4xe cost?
Jeep has not yet announced pricing for the Gladiator 4xe. But the Wrangler 4xe is about a $10,000 option over the standard model. So, we would guess a Wrangler PHEV starts a little north of $50,000.
