The Audi RS 6 Avant GT May Be the Coolest Wagon We’ve Ever Seen
Audi’s apex predator wagon now has an apex predator edition … and it’s coming to America.
·
A few years back, there was much rejoicing across the land when Audi finally brought the RS 6 Avant wagon back to America. Then last year, there was more rejoicing when the brand upgraded it with the RS 6 Avant Performance for 2024. If you heard a distant cry of delight in the last day, then, it might be because the carmaker has now brought out a limited-run apex model — the Audi RS 6 Avant GT. And it may be the coolest station wagon we’ve ever seen.
Here’s what you need to know about this new super-wagon.
The powertrain comes from the RS 6 Avant Performance
Audi kept the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 the same for the RS 6 Avant GT. It puts out 621 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque, just like the RS 6 Avant Performance. That V8, paired with Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive, propels the wagon from 0-60 mph in just 3.3 seconds and to a top speed of 190 mph.

But the RS 6 Avant GT looks markedly different
The RS 6 Avant GT features a front end derived heavily from the RS 6 GTO concept with vertical blades, a new intake grille and a front splitter integrated into the bumper. Audi deleted the roof rails and added a pass-through rear roof spoiler. The hood, fenders and wheels are all made from carbon fiber. Decals pay homage to the Audi 90 Quattro IMSA GTO.
And this Audi packs some substantial performance upgrades
Audi tweaked the quattro sport differential on the RS 6 Avant GT’s rear axle to enhance its agility and provide more rear bias in Dynamic mode. An adjustable coilover suspension drops the car 0.4 inches lower than the standard model. It has a higher spring rate, triple-adjustable dampers and stiffer stabilizers to reduce body roll.
The RS 6 Avant GT will be sold in America … but in very limited numbers
Audi is building 660 RS 6 Avant GT units with production beginning in Q2 2024. According to Car and Driver, 85 of them will be bound for North America. No pricing for America has been announced yet, but the European version starts at just over $235,000, which would be more than $100,000 more than the RS 6 Avant Performance in America. Start saving those pennies.
