Mercedes-Benz pivoted off plans to be all-electric by 2030. But that doesn’t necessarily mean a slowdown on batteries as we all continue buying handcrafted V8s. Mercedes still plans to electrify half of its vehicles before the decade’s end. The brand just announced one of the essential vehicles to help the brand reach that target: the GLC 350e 4Matic.
The GLC 350e 4Matic is a plug-in hybrid version of Mercedes’s popular GLC compact crossover. Here’s what you need to know about it.
How much power does the GLC 350e have?
The GLC 350e 4Matic offers a combined 313 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque from its turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four hybrid. Mercedes says 325 lb-ft of that is available instantly upon acceleration.
How much electric range does the GLC 350e 4Matic have?
Mercedes still needs to provide an official EPA range figure. However, the EV range could be substantial. The GLC 350e 4Matic packs about 73-81 miles of range by the more generous WLTP standard. That could translate to more than 50 miles under EPA testing. The GLE 450e PHEV offers 48 miles.
The GLC 350e 4Matic can drive EV-only at speeds up to 80 mph. Mercedes says the battery can charge fully on a 60kW DC fast charger in about 30 minutes.
Like the standard GLC, the PHEV version will offer a myriad of customization options on the exterior and interior.Mercedes-Benz
The GLC 350e 4Matic will offer all the customization options
As with the combustion GLC, the plug-in hybrid offers an impressive array of customization options. Buyers can choose from 11 paint colors, 13 different upholstery options and eight different wheels across the three trim packages. The GLC 350e also follows the combustion model’s lead on the interior with a floating 12.3-inch instrument display and a clean center tunnel flowing into an 11.9-inch screen.
When will the 2025 GLC 350e arrive?
Mercedes says the GLC 350e will be a 2025 model year vehicle and arrive during the second half of 2024.
How much will the 2025 GLC 350e 4Matic cost?
We have yet to find out. Mercedes says it will announce pricing closer to the launch date. It should be more expensive than the base GLC 300 4Matic, which starts at $49,100. The plug-in hybrid is about a $7,000 premium over the equivalent model on the GLE. If we had to guess, the GLC 350e 4Matic will start in the mid-$50,000 range.
