Manitobah

Today in Gear is our daily roundup of the latest product announcements, drops and news from Gear Patrol Studios. Please direct pitches, tips and questions to tig@gearpatrol.com.

Move over, Oura Ring — Samsung has entered the smart ring world. The brand recently announced the Galaxy Ring, which is set to release later this year. The lightweight ring delivers health data around sleep, heart rate, movement and respiratory indicators. The first-gen ring will be available in silver, gold or black.

Today we’re talking about a cool candle, a supply kit and a new North Face Jacket. This is Today in Gear.

Manitobah

Spring Moccasins

Just launched: Manitobah released its new spring moccasin and sandal collection, and by purchasing one of the brand’s handcrafted pieces you’ll help celebrate and support Indigenous artists. Check out the Cottager ($110), a leather moccasin with a durable crepe sole that you’ll have trouble taking off. As temps get hotter, the Plains Flip ($90) is the ideal choice. The full-grain leather sandal feature beadwork and band details by Nimiipuu artist Mikailah Thompson.

Camelbak

A Double-Wall Insulated Bike Bottle

New and noteworthy: CamelBak’s Podium Steel 22oz Bike Bottle ($40) offers the convenience of a bike bottle and the double-wall insulation necessary to keep beverages cold for up to 18 hours. The bottle features a high-flow cap and requires no squeezing, so you can access hydration quickly while on the go. The bottle will fit most bike cages, but you can also take it with you in the car or to a yoga class.

The North Face

New Futurelight

You have our attention: The North Face launched its lightest and most breathable membranes yet, and put it into jackets like the Summit Series FUTURELIGHT Papsura ($400). The Papsura is designed to offer cutting-edge protection from the elements in a durable, super-light package. The jacket features 3L FUTURELIGHT fabric that’s made from 100 percent recycled nylon and packs down small. It also has harness-compatible pockets and a helmet-compatible hood so you can take it with you no matter what activity you’re doing.

FRĒDA SALVADOR

A Pretty Candle

Fun and fresh: We’re lusting over the Freda Candle in Unicorn ($48) from Freda Salvador. The all-natural coconut burning wax candle is hand-poured in L.A. and gives off a pleasant woodsy aroma that’s blended with fresh eucalyptus to offer up California vibes. The shimmery, colorful, translucent container is why it’s called ‘Unicorn,’ and also why we’re drooling over it. If you’re keen on adding some pizazz (and some good smells) to your WFH scene, this is for you.

VSSL

An Essential Carry for Winter Forays

Adventure ready: The Backcountry Supplies Kit ($120) is a collaboration between VSSL and Smith and features 11 essential tools to repair gear and outerwear — like zip ties and a sewing kit — plus other handy things to keep you safe, like a ski strap, fire starter, wire saw and a mini first-aid kit. It also has emergency items like an S.O.S. floodlight. The water-resistant tin weighs in at just under 15 ounces so it’s a no brainer to throw in your pack before you head out.
